My top two:

1. From "It May Not Be on a Mountain High". Something like..there's surely somewhere a lowly place in earth's harvest field so wide where I can labor through life's short day for Jesus the Crucified"

2. From "Praise to the Man"..."the earth must atone for the blood of that man (originally it was "Illinois must atone"...millions shall know brother Joseph again."

1. "Praise to the Man"...millions shall know Brother Joseph again.

2. "Come thou font of every blessing"...(not in the new hymn books but in the old one...the Tabs sing it though...I want it at my funeral.) "Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to the leave the God I love, here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for the courts above." We have one of the old hymn books with the name "Mary McCain" on the inside cover...I sure do miss her.

3. "Because I have been given much" I shall divide my gifts from thee with every brother that I see, who has the need of help from me.

I like Be Still My Soul and Abide With Me (really, either of them is good).

I also prefer any song with a killer alto part. . . Let Us All Press On being one of my favorites.

The order is based off of the number of the Hymn, not the order of my preference

1. We Thank Thee, O God, For A Prophet
We doubt not the Lord nor his goodness.
We’ve proved him in days that are past.
The wicked who fight against Zion
Will surely be smitten at last.

2. Come, Come, Ye Saints
And should we die before our journey’s through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!

3. The Day Dawn Is Breaking
In many a temple the Saints will assemble
And labor as saviors of dear ones away.
Then happy reunion and sweetest communion
We’ll have with our friends in the beautiful day.

4. Have I Done Any Good?
Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.
Has anyone’s burden been lighter today
Because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?

5. In Our Lovely Deseret
They should be instructed young
How to watch and guard the tongue,
And their tempers train and evil passions bind;
They should always be polite,
And treat ev’rybody right,
And in ev’ry place be affable and kind.

ok so you all have mentioned ones that i love especially praise to the man with millions shall know brother Joseph again.
but i also really enjoy put your shoulder to the wheel, cause i think its fun!!
i love it when women sing as sisters in zion.
Joseph Smith's first prayer is also amazing
Nearer my God to thee...titanic
oh and i love there is sunshine in my soul today. again totally fun

There is one bad hymn. Master the Tempest is Raging. That song is so dark it scares me and has given me nightmares. On a side note, Do not fall asleep in church

1. Since Denise mentioned Count Thou Font, I am reminded of the use of the word "Ebeneezer" to represent some kind of shield

2. Growing up I always resented the expression "Balm of Gilead did we borrow" as if anybody know what the heck that meant.

3. On a serious note, I feel blessed to have people call on me to sing in two Temple Dedication choirs. I cannot sing the Spirit of God with the special hosannah descant without blubbering like a baby. During the Seattle dedication, Carol said the camera focused on me singing with tears dripping off my chin.
