5 Least Favorite Movies

I thought it would be fun to see everyone's 5 least favorite movies. I won't mention mine so as to not influence anyone toward Yentl.

now these are in no particular order...

1. benjamin button- way too long, and way too lame, oh and kinda weird.
2. the wedding date (with debra messing) it had such potential and yet... was the biggest waste of time ever!!
3. oh brother where art thou- i think its boring! but all boys love it. plus the men are a very odd shade.
4.city of angels- he's an angel, then he decides to be alive for meg ryan who then dies while riding her bike no handed. who thought that up??? satan
5.unbreakable- there are 2 things i dont love... comic books, and samuel L jackson having glass bones. its weird and i don't like it!!

OK I will try my hand...

#5 "Cat in the Hat" It is hard to imagine a bad film with Mike Myers or by Dr. Seues, but this one did that.

#4 "Christas Carol, the Musical"..This is here because it was such a bad use of such a brilliant book.

#3 The Postman...I can't imagine what Kevin Costner was thinking of here. In the Post World War World, the postman is the hero.

#2 "The Return of Billie Jack" This is a little obscure, but "Billie Jack" was a cult movie in the 60s about a Vietnam War vet/martial arts expert/American Indian who saves the hippies in a SW town. That was pretty good. "Return of Billie Jack" is the 3rd sequel. This one ended with the military launching rockets at this college in Arizona while Bille and the students sang "Give Peace a Chance"

#1 Yentl....no question.. Barbara Streisand sings the same song over and over, not allowing Mandy Patemkin to sing at all. Babs plays a Jewish girl who dresses like a man so she can study the Talmud. S/he ends up somehow getting engaged to the beautiful Amy Irving. They get very much too close to the honeymoon before Babs is discovered. Very bad in every possible way.

5. Monkey Bone with Brenden Frasier. This was my own fault, why would I think it was going to be good.
4. Spanglish, I do have great memories of watching it with Stefany.
3. James Bond: Die Another Day, the melting of an ice hotel, Reilly?
2. Talladega Nights, I normally really like Will Ferrel. It is not good when I laugh at 1 out of 10 jokes.
1. The 2 worst sequels of all time share my top spot. Wayne s World 2 and Ave Ventura: When Nature Calls. Both of them were mistakes that I made in the theater, Ouch

I must admit that I really hate City of Angels also. And what is wrong with Meg Ryan that she would make the little girl die her hair brown so Meg was the only blond. She has it in her contract that she is the only blond in her movies. The only thing dumber is that Seven Segal's contract protects his face from being hit, kinda weird for an action star.

Dad many people put the Postman and Cat in the Hat in the worst movies of all time, well done.

I had to think on this one...
In no particular order

#3 Yentl...sitting by dad who was so miserable and then reading about"Babs" changing the play so that she liked it better and then she did not let Mandy Patinkin sing...he has been a Broadway star and the whole wedding night scene was just so wrong.

#4 Muhammed Ali, The Greatest...written by, directed by, produced and starring Muhammed Ali...I told Dad that after we saw that I did not want to hear anymore about Yentl.

#2 Close Encounters of the Third Kind...what the heck was that about?

#5 How the Grinch stole Christmas...Jim Carrey run amok...did not touch my heart at all and I LOVE the story.

#1 WORST The remake of An Affair To Remember with Warren Beatty and Annette Benning...oh my heck!!! What a waste of film and money. There was no chemistry between the 2 of them (I cannot imagine how they have managed to have 4 children...another story) and Katherine Hepburn was horrible.

Actually, I am going back and putting them in order...as I have thought about it I now know.

another thought...I also agree with Dad on all of us so I guess I have more than 5 bad movies...

I am surprised Denise did not chime in on "City of Angels". I think it was because she didn't watch it because the idea of the plot was so abhorent to her that she couldn't stand it.

Paps, shout out to this genius post. Here are some of my favorite worst movies:
1. Autumn in New York: hated it, wanted my money back, boring (Richard Gere and Winona Ryder)
2. A Midsummer Night's Dream: the only movie I've ever actually fallen asleep in the movie theater during (luckily only $1).
3. I am also not a fan of City of Angels. . . I won't even watch the whole thing. What kind of stupid movie is this? I don't know that much good has happened for Meg or Nicholas since this.
4. I liked Andy's comment about sequels, and I agree. Hated Miss Congeniality 2 probably the most, also Legally Blonde 2. I really really really hated the end of the most recent Indiana Jones. What a huge disappointment.
5.Must Love Dogs--couldn't even finish it when rented it.

I also second Sarah on The Wedding Date, and I feel like there was one other one that I recently saw that I felt I should add to the list. . . but I can't think of any more at the moment.

I forgot the 2nd Pirates of the Caribbean. Disliked it so much I refused to watch the 3rd.
I also didn't like Catch and Release.

I have to chime in
#1 without a doubt--"Reds" starring Warren Beatty. Carol and I tried to get through it three separate check-outs because it had some historical stuff. But, oh my word--yawn.
#2--just the other night--"the day the earth stood still". I have refused to jump on the "Keanu Reeves is lousy" bandwagon until this came. Wow, what a stinker.
#3--another just the other night--"September Dawn" supposed to be a reality of the Mountain Meadows Massacre, of which I consider myself a quasi-expert. When they start out with a narrative from a girl who was 6 months at the time, but could still feel and remember stuff, I knew it was another stinker. Not even the anti's liked this one.
4. Rambo--sorry, we went to this with another couple and almost got thrown out of the theater for hilarious laughing and shouting clever things at the screen, like when Sly suddenly stepped out of the mud embankment, I yelled, "Look, Gumby!!"
#5--anything with Woody Allen. I just don't get it. He is beyond self-deprication, and people should be agreeing that he is a putz!

In regards to City of Angels...I have refused to even watch it...it makes me crazy to even think about it. And Autumn in New York was so bad...I had blocked out of my mind until Rach mentioned it. Along with Dennis I have tried to watch Reds a number of times and "What the Heck was so great about that?"

And I laughed out loud at the Rambo and Gumby comment.

Well, I realized yesterday that I had forgotten to put Mama Mia on my list so I am adding that...and THEN last night we watched Mansfield Park...a movie LOOSELY based on a Jane Austen story...which had some mild pornographic drawings (a few seconds...just enough time for dad and I to say..."what the heck..." and they were gone) in it and some other trash and it was Horrible...I did not care that the girl got the boy in the end...did not like the girl...did not like the boy. So I guess I have more than 5 worst movies.

I remembered the one I was forgetting!! Da Vinci Code. Hated it. Tom Hanks was horrible as Langdon.

This has been fun and I now know some movies to miss. I however, wonder if any of you have actually seen "Yentl".

NCAA2PROSPORTS said...

I have watched Yentl a couple of times. It starts out pretty interesting I must admit.

When it comes time to do favorite movies, I would like to make a suggestion. We do 5 favorite action or musicals or Adam Sandler movies. It will be too hard to pick a top 5.

Your family criticism of Yentl reminds me that nobody liked how Barbara Streisand sang when she first came out--too much shouting, too loud, too high. Hmmm. Hope Adam Lambert does so well during his very, very promising career after Idol. Same critiques. I have to vote 20 times to override Carl's and Laurel's ten each votes for that soft singing wimp, Kris Allen.
